    Lots of Laughters

The past week had been another busy week but wat was very special abt it was that there were lots of laughters involved. ^^

Its rather amazing tat one can find so many anecdotes and jokes in one's life if he/she bothers to look at things from a different angle.

    Here's a few which i can remember...

    *****************************************************

The price of MacDonald cone ice cream has gone up to 60 cents from its original 50 cents. I still remember a time when the price went down to 25 cents and it was one of the cheapest ice cream u can find outside.

Anyway, I went with my parents, bro and his family to have dinner at Pizza Hut last Sunday. Only cost us about $40.00+ for 5 adults and 2 children after using some discount coupon. Was initially going to have Venezia ice cream as dessert...but cheapo me suggested having MacDonald ice cream instead.

When we started grumbling abt how the price has gone up by 10 cents, my bro said "maybe we can ask them to 'level' the ice cream so that there is less ice cream and they can charge us 50 cents..."

    @_@!!! LOL!!!

Then I licked my ice cream cone...from this......
    cone
(picture of this ice cream cone is taken from the MacDonald official website and edited for the 2 pictures below)

......to this...then I joked "hey, u can bring this to other pple and try selling them at 50 cents! Haha..."
    cone2

    or maybe like that...
    cone3

a 'levelled' ice cream cone for 50 cents?!!! LOL!

    *****************************************************

Did OT one of the days until 10pm and rushed work with some colleagues. We decided to call for a taxi as the taxi fare is claimable anyway.

So my colleague called the taxi hotline and put the call on speaker.

"......your taxi will be arriving in...

    527 Minutes

    ......and I heard "527 minutes!!!"

So, we gotta wait for the taxi for more than 8 hours!!! Hahaha.....ROFL....

    *****************************************************

This is a rather embarrasing incident for me. Was working as usual when I squat down to pick up some files and I heard "pzzt!" - My pants TORE!

    torn pants

Aiyo...have not felt so embarrased for a long time. The tore was along the seams at the back of my pants and it went way up, such that my colleague can even see my panty (paiseh wo!). Luckily my other colleague have emergency sewing kit, so I was saved from further embarrasment of travelling home with a torn pants and free show on the colour of my panty.

    TV & DVD Player

Finally! My new Flatscreen TV and DVD Player!

19" Flatscreen Sharp Aquos - S$499 from Best Denki

    Sharp Aquos

    Akira DVD Player - S$61 from Live!Powerhub

    Akira DVD Player

I have been struggling without a DVD player for days (spoilt!)...arghh...so many dramas to watch...in addition to tat, my room TV has gone bananas...so it is time I changed both anyway.

Been eyeing this 19" Flatscreen Sharp Aquos since the start of this year but only decided to buy it this week. In fact, I went to the Best Denki outlet at Compass Point one of the night this week after work to specially take a look at the range of Flatscreen TV available. The service there was horrendous!...actually it was non-existent. I paced around the TV section and nobody served me...even when I stood in front of the TV tat I am interested in...none of the salemen there even bothered to approach me! I ended up walking out of the shop, a little pissed and exhausted from work. I actually wondered if they din serve me coz I am a woman and they probably din think I was really interested in buying any electronic gadgets there.

    Lessons learnt:
    1) Never go shopping after work if you are exhausted;
    2) Never shop/buy things from Best Denki - Compass Point; and
    3) When buying electronic/IT products, get a guy to go buy it with u.

So, in the end I went shopping with my bro at Best Denki - Bishan Junction 8 yesterday and got my flatscreen TV! Thanks bro for the gift! ^^

The Akira DVD player is the smaller gift I got for myself. Decided not to go with the more expensive brands just in case they cannot play certain discs.

^^ Sooooo happy now....all set to "K" my dramas already!

    One Fine Day

Another Korean drama starring Gong Yoo. Well, if u have watched the drama Coffee Prince, you would have heard of him...and maybe even fell for his character. But this drama is in fact an early one made before the Coffee Prince.

    OneFineDay

    Synopsis:
"Seo Gun's (Gong Yoo) father married an unwed mother, thus making Seo Haneul (Sung Yu Ri) his sister in the eyes of the law. After their parents passed away, Seo Haneul was adopted by a wealthy chairman of a large organization. Seo Gun, on the other hand, experienced a life of many twists and turns and became a gangster. Upon using Haneul to extort money, Seo Gun and Haneul slowly fall in love with each other."

This is a chart taken from DramaWiki...will explain the relation in the show better.

RATING FOR SHOW: *** (out of 5 stars)

    Thank You - 感谢

No, I am not writing a "thank you" post...its abt this korean drama...

    ThankYou

    Synopsis from DramaWiki:
"Dr. Min Ki Seo went to Blue Island to fulfill his deceased girlfriend's last wish to find the single mother and her little girl who was infected by HIV and to apologize to them on her behalf as she had unknowingly given the girl tainted blood when she was being treated at the hospital. Lee Young Shin, the single mom, was having a hard time caring for her grandfather who has Alzeimer's and keeping her daughter's HIV condition a secret while teaching her how to live with it. Min Ki Seo was an arrogant person who looked down on people and in meeting Lee Young Shin who accepted her fate and tried to make the best of it despite all odds, he slowly changed for the better and became a warm and caring person."

This drama has a surprisingly matured theme and seems to convey lots of messages to audiences through the protrayal of a little girl with HIV and her family and how they pull through the society's prejudice and ostracism. U might think tats all...but at the end of the show, I discovered a more important theme - "TO BE THANKFUL FOR THINGS IN YOUR LIFE". Very simple message but something most of us lost sight of while going through our busy lifestyle.

So, lets all take a step back from our busy schedule and think abt all the things in our lives which we are thankful for...be thankful...

    Let's Work Our Imagination - Part 1

Ok, this post is inspired by the movie "Face Off" and probably induced by me having too much free time. Have been "nua-ing" at home for the whole weekend and decided to just go ahead with this post.

Imagine if u can take on a new identity, someone else's identity...his/her life.....or maybe not so far, just imagine if u are a different person altogether....or just a different gender???? Wat would u become then???

Now, let's work our imagination with the qns - "WAT IF I AM A MAN?"

If all other things remain the same - the pple I met, the education level I went thru, the jobs I had...hmmm...lets not list them all....such a long list.

So, my frens will likely not be as close coz they are mostly women....so which girl fren would the man version of me ("Man-Me") be interested in then? Haha...interesting thought hor? No lah, I am not a lesbian!!!!

Frens, pls do not be insulted by this entry, I do not mean to in watever ways k...so, I shall use initials to represent them.

    Some girl frens of mine....

    1. My long standing sec school good fren J. A shy girl who gets nervous easily, gets bullied easily and doesnt share her inner feelings easily. But she is a cute, bubbly, energetic and lively girl to all those who knows her.
    > Man-Me: Can be friends with J lah. Go out makan, watch movie and shopping ok ba. As GF, probably not. I dun like to second guess pple, much less one's own GF.

    2. B, my ex-classmate in sec school. Find her pretty, sweet and demure. Easy going and popular among both guys and girls.
    > Man-Me: Would probably attempt to woo her back then if I was a man. But highly suspect I will fail. Coz she married her bf whom she met in sec school. Really loyal girl. ^^

    3. 我的死党 - H. Realistic, intelligent and reliable girl. A bit quick tempered and hard to reason with at times but she forgives and forgets.
    > Man-Me: Might be a little taxing to have H as a gf coz she is an attention seeker...meaning, u have to entertain her and cannot leave her bored and stuck at home. But other than this, H is a good GF material for a stable relationship.

    4. My mentor, A. A being an older woman has much wisdom to offer in life. She is witty, homely and definitely will be an interesting life partner. She likes being pampered and enjoy the finer things in life.
    > Man-Me: Big setback though is tat she is only interested in SMART, WITTY and INTELLIGENT guy who can match up to her intellectual level. And I am far from her level :P

    5. Mysterious fren, S. S is much like a free-spirited person. Very soft spoken but by no means is she shy, just not out-spoken. She is capable and well versed in many things/skills that u might not think she have knowledge of. In fact, she has been to more places than me and seen much more of this world.
    > Man-Me: Too free spirited for me. As a fren ok lah, as GF...well, I might find it hard running after her. LOL.

    6. Gemini JT. Think her character is much like her horoscope - Gemini. A lady who has more than 1 personality. Hard to understand and hard to get close to. She has a motherly nature and really takes care of those she loves and cares for. But she has a secretive nature too and do not let pple know wat she does sometimes. Hard to fathom lah.
    > Man-Me: Nope, JT is definitely not my choice for a GF. Reminds too much of myself sometimes.

    7. Innocent K. Ok, not so innocent...but I think she has a child living in her. She is really sweet and cute at times but truly too sensitive at others. Talking to her can be great fun but one must also becareful coz 1 wrong word might change the whole place into a mine field.
    > Man-Me: Too sensitive le. If have K as GF, will have to treat everyday as treading on a mine field.

    8. Stubborn G. One of the most stubborn girl I have met in my life. But given her young age, I guess one shld really forgive her and give her a chance. She is also pessimistic and have low self-confidence at times. With some grooming and nurturing, she can become a beautiful lady with a wonderful nature.
    > Man-Me: A girl with too much growing up to do. Not sure I can tahan "growing up" with her though.

Ok, enuff frens listed above. If u are not in the list, dun be disappointed k...coz i might not have nice things to write abt u either :P

Isn't this imagination test fun? I shld do this more often. Frens, if u wish to be listed in my next imagination entry, leave me a note k.

    CNY 2008 pics

CNY was just normal visiting at both my grandmas' places for the first 2 days of CNY. Visiting is really no fun after u are grown up and yet unmarried. Receiving angbao (ie. red packets) is also quite paiseh coz so old liao, still taking angbaos instead of giving out angbaos. Sigh....but wat to do? Not married my fault meh??? Ok maybe...but nevermind lah, its my life.

Here are some photos that I took for this CNY:

    CNY 2008

Out of sheer boredom, I decided to curl my hair on the 2nd day of CNY (初二). It wasnt a total success coz curling one's own hair is not an easy feat, especially the hair behind.

But I am well satisfied of the results after 2 hrs of struggling with the curling iron and my messy hair.....have a look....not bad hor. And yes, I look older with curly hair. Duh...I am not young anyway.

    CNY round the corner

Chinese New Year is officially 4 days away. How times flies...I guess maybe coz CNY comes early this year too. I havent felt much of the CNY buzz and its already round the corner.

I specially took leave last Thu to go CNY shopping with my mum. And the spot we picked is of coz Chinatown. Expecting it to be crowded, we went early...abt 10am plus...the shops and stalls were already opened by the time we arrived and instead of crowds of pple, we found many groups of school kids there...think they are probably some school trips to introduce the festive season to the younger generation. But guess its better to squeeze thru crowds of kids than crowds of smelly adults...haha!

Never thought I will say this...amidst the irritating crowds and disgusting cockroaches, I miss walking thru the streets of Chinatown like I used to everyday when I was working in IPTO.

Hmm...wat else happened this week...went for yoga on tuesday and had a shock when I went to the wrong class. Blame it on the staff there...gave me a wrong studio card and I just went in. Was resting and waiting for the instructor (I was expectine Ganesh)...when Issey walked right in! I had a shocked and thought maybe I entered the studio too early and maybe the previous class is still in progress. Then when he picked up his mic and was belting it on, I quickly made my escape :P .......dunno wat this is abt??? Well, Issey is an instructor who teaches the advances yoga classes: Power yoga, Combat, Hartha....I definitely CMI in his class lor.

And I went to Pero's baby girl's 1 month old celebration just now. A simple affair held at her place for frens and family. Her baby girl, Vera, was too busy napping and sneaking peeks at us...keke! Cute! I din take any pics coz not really sure if its appriopriate to put her photo on my blog :P

Anyway, not really excited abt CNY but definitely welcome the break of 4 days. Knowing tat there wont be tat much visiting, I am expecting a lot of rest for the coming week...yipee!
