What would u do with a Million Dollars?

What would u do with a Million Dollars?

The question hit me while I was walking to work this morning. My crave to travel is back again...strange coz I went Hong Kong and Genting in Oct. Should feel more than satisfied now but noooo...feel like going to some parts of Australia. Then, I thought abt how much $ I have to spare for travel and my face went literally :(

So then, trying to focus on happy thoughts: "What if I bought 4D/Toto/Big Sweep and won a Million Dollars?"

    Such an exciting question...

Was thinking of putting aside $10k each for my parents, brothers and sister-in-law for them to travel. The rest of the money???

    i) Buy a property => if buy, surely not enuff $ to do anything else
ii) Buy a car => I dun even drive -_-
iii) Invest in shares => kidding, with the current economic unrest, fat chance I am investing.
iv) Start a business => again a crazy idea with the current economic situation
    v) Quit job and laze at home => I am lazy enuff as it is, dun need another pull factor

Hmm, above options sux...cant think of anything feasible tat I wana do with the rest of the money.

Maybe I am being too stingy with the $ to my family...ok, I will apportion $100k each to them instead and also set up a study fund of $50k ea for my niece and nephew. Thereafter, I will be left with $400k. Just nice, put into savings and draw on it when I feel like splurging or travelling. Heeheehee...good thoughts! Happy thoughts!

But...but....but I dun normally gamble or buy 4D/Toto/Big Sweep....

    -_-

    Back To Work...Back to Reality...

Am still recovering from my chicken pox and waiting for the dried marks to drop off but I am already back at work (2nd day back actually). Yes, I think I am still contagious and in danger of spreading the pox to someone else, but wat can I do? My MC is only till Monday.

Anyway, 1st day back at work was initially messy with lots of work status unknown. 2 weeks away from work really makes a difference. But I soon caught up with wat I have to do and was busy for the rest of the day. Lots more to clear today but decided to blog a little before I start with another busy day.

Just got my free ASUS laptop last night (came free with my broadband contract)! Its a cute white little thing that looks more like a portable DVD player than a laptop. Was giving the first charge last night so havent tried to use it yet. Seems rather cool though - Small, Portable (light-weight) & Chic. Think of buying a foldable keyboard and a small optical mouse for it but my bro said he will buy for me...wonder if his taste is any good @_@. Will try to take a pic of my new lappy soon and post on blog.

Ok, back to work...yes, back to reality.

    Chicken Pox Horror!

For some, chicken pox is really nothing but just something u will get at least once in ur life. Itchy spots will appear tat are evidence of ur body expulging the toxin from within and if u manage not to scratch those spots, ur skin will be smoother after the chicken pox subside and the dead skin drops off.

For others, chicken pox is an ordeal. Spots and watery pox (I hv no better way to describe these blobs) will cover almost every part of their bodies. The itch will almost kill them and keep them uneasy no matter whether they are sitting, lying or sleeping. Some will even feel pain from those spots. And not to mention the bodyaches and fever tat is part of the bundle tat comes with chicken pox.

I am on Day 4 of my chicken pox and though I am in excruciating pain like some, nor am I fully covered with pox, they are nevertheless itchy and irritating.

I thought abt taking some pictures of my pox but then decided not to disgust all of u as I did when I had my monster ulcers last time.

Just an advice to some who havent had their chicken pox, they dun exactly come the same way as wat the elderly might say (at least my mum said this). It differs from person to person.

On Sunday when I suddenly felt feverish in the afternoon and discovered a slight lump on my neck just beneath my right ear, I dismissed it as just my body getting too heaty. So I slept my fever away and when I woke up in the evening, I felt weak and my whole body was aching. I also discovered a spot like an ant bite on my left hand and two more on my back. They looked kinda dubious coz I am quite sure there aint no ants on my bed. When I complained to my mum, she insisted its nothing.

Next day I woke up, I couldnt even get up! My whole body ache badly and I couldnt really bend. Then I found maybe two more spots on my hands. Again I asked my mum if it could be chicken pox (coz my colleague just had shingles...heard tat it can spread to pple: those who havent had chicken pox will get the pox and those who already had the pox will get shingles), and she insisted it couldnt be coz "pple will normally have fever for a few days and its not so easy for chicken pox to come out". My doc said its allergy and gave me medicine for allergy and muscle relaxant.

Further into the 2nd Day, I realise more spots coming out and kept wondering wats wrong with me. If its not chicken pox, wat issit?

Day 3, I woke up with less bodyache but more spots seems to have sprouted since I seen the doc. Finally my mum went to some chinese medical hall nearby and asked and they confirmed that its either chicken pox or measles. So, off I went to the doc again and this time he finally gave the verdict tat I indeed got the chicken pox! Wham, 14 days mc and some medicine for the pox, itchiness and panadol. Think western doc really cant help in this case. My mum said have to drink lots of herbal tea.

So here I am, Day 4 of my chicken pox as I watch more and more spots appear everywhere on my body and face and hands and legs....and these spots becoming watery pox....yicks! They start to itch and I am not supposed to scratch them so I wouldnt leave scars. Argh....its killing me. Think I might be able to handle the pain better....this itch is really........

Well, will put more updates when I wana keep my hands busy typing so tat I will forget abt scratching.....(hmm...wat shld I do tmr...its getting boring...)

Idiots In The Office Part 2

Due to favourable feedbacks on my first posting of "Idiots In The Office", I decided to do a Part 2. Oh wait...maybe my reason for doing a Part 2 posting is because there are really many idiots in the office! @_@

    DISCLAIMER

    Notice 1:
If you happen to know the situations described below or know the people I am describing, please do not feel offended or upset about my post. I mean to share, not to upset.

    Notice 2:
If you happen to be one of the Idiot I am talking about below...well, I guess you probably won't know that I am talking about you and therefore won't feel upset.

    Notice 3:
If you happen not to understand what I have described below...hmmm...I think you are probably an Idiot too.

    ------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

A was working late in the office one night (as she usually does) when I and a few colleagues who are also working late decided to go out and have their dinner.

With the knowledge that A is still in the office, I and gang omitted to inform A that they are going out for dinner and would be coming back to the office.

At 9pm plus, A finally decided to pack up and go home. So as a standard procedure, she checked all the rooms in the office to make sure that no one else is around and all the lights are off (none of the room lights were on anyway) before she locked the front entrance and headed home.

A received a phone call from I at 10pm plus just as she was stepping out of the MRT station near her home.

I: Wei A, where are you huh?
A: Just stepped out of MRT near my home. Why?
I: We are locked out of the office! We only went out for dinner, why did you lock us out?
A: Erm, I lock up because I was the last person in the office. I went around to check but no one around, so of course I have to lock up.
I: But we got leave our room lights on mah!
A: No ah, I went to check all the rooms. None of the lights in the room were on.
I: Aiyah, then how?! You come back to the office now and help us unlock the front door leh!
A: I am sorry I can't do that, its too far away... (it took A about an hour to reach home)
    <I grumbles...then hung up>

Next day, I shot some 'dirty looks' at A when they encounter each other in the office.

This is unfounded lor! I is an absolute IDIOT!

    Why???

    1. Everyone in the office is assigned a key to the front door, therefore the last person to leave the office MUST check that all the lights are off then lock the office up before going off.
~ A did all the necessary checks and locked up

    2. Anyone who stayed late to do his/her work in the office SHOULD remember to bring the key with him/her when going for dinner or restroom breaks.
~ Since I and gang went out for dinner together, its ridiculous none of them brought their key.

    3. It is common courtesy to let someone else who is still in the office know that you are going out for dinner and check if he/she will still be around when you come back later.
~ I did not inform A about going out for dinner and coming back after that.

    4. No one should assume that fellow colleagues will work till late every night just because they happen to work late most days of the week.
~ What the hell was I and gang thinking when they expect someone to be still in the office at 10pm plus!!!

    5. When you have been locked out of the office for reason of your own stupidity, don't be insensitive and expect others to come all the way back to your rescue.
~ I wanted A to travel all the way back to the office and did not even suggest paying for her cab fare to and fro. Like that who want to do that! Siao...

    Halloween Pumpkins - 31 Oct 2008

We had our Halloween celebration in the office just by coordinating among us colleagues to wear the colour "orange" to signify the all popular pumpkins often featured in this festive season.

Although not everyone own an orange colour clothing, we did suggest other colour options for their choice of clothes:

    Orange for fresh pumpkin
    Green for un-ripe pumpkin
    Brown for over-ripe pumpkin

Its was all good fun and its great tat quite a number of us did turn up at work in the above colour scheme.

    7 Pumpkins In A Row

While taking photos, we decided tat the green colour looks more like the leaves on the pumpkin itself...so we took a photo of a batch of fresh leafy pumpkins. Hmm...but wats the "blob" of brown patch doing in front...urgh....

    Leafy Pumpkins

Some more additions of pumpkins (Below: our guy colleague in the black top was actually wearing an orange pants! - Inverted pumpkin?)

^_^ Did u notice the brinjal among us??? Keke....

    Ad-hoc

Its been about a week since I returned from my Genting trip with family. Am still sorting the photos and waiting for my bro's set of photos for compilation before I put them on blog.

Anyway, was going through my database of photos and realised that I took quite a lot of "ad-hoc" photos, all the way from early this year, which I did not put up on blog.

Here they are anyway, in no particular order and randomly narrated as wat I remembered my thoughts were at the times I took those photos.

    **********************************************************************************
Saw this self-made poster (in clear fonts and well laminated) on an overhead bridge one day.

    <

Wat does the poster mean by "Fast Cash"?

    => "Ah-Long" (unlicensed moneylender) service???

    **********************************************************************************

Was in Changi Airport Terminal 2 with frens one night.

While waiting for them to come out of the restroom, I was just randomly looking at the directories nearby the burger king and coffee bean area.

    And notice wat is wrong?

    Got it???

Well, I did say from the start I was in Terminal 2...

(I guess the directories would have been changed by now...coz the above photos were taken in April 2008)

    **********************************************************************************

One of my favourite pair of red heels bought on impulse. I love the height and the beautiful shade of red...but man...this heels cut the back of my ankle pretty badly when I first wore it.

    **********************************************************************************

Enjoyed a hot chocolate drink at McCafe in East Coast while waiting for Amrita one early morning. Isnt the "star" design pretty? Hehe....McDonalds can have standard too...LOL...but then again, their hot chocolate seems a little diluted.

    **********************************************************************************

Gwen gave me a treat at Marina Mandarin Hotel Lobby. We love to go there for a drink and chat and sometimes to enjoy the live musical performances on friday nights.

    Yummy looking chocolate eclairs.

    **********************************************************************************

    A gathering at Kushin-bo with my "xiao-meis".

Been a long time since I met up with all 3 of them. Now, its going to be even harder to meet up with all becoz Zhenwei has opened a pushcart stall in Orchard Cineleisure selling fashion bags!

Bravo! A young entrepreneur among my frens! Will blog abt her stall once I get more info from her.

    **********************************************************************************

I am not a big fan of coffee so I dun really patronise those higher-end coffee cafes such as Coffee Club, TCC, etc.

However, on my way to work daily, I do pass by this TCC outlet along Robinson Road just on your way out of Raffles MRT tunnel exit F (if I dun remember wrongly...or it could be exit E)...anyway, its across the road from AIA.

The shop design of this TCC outlet is classy and the furnishing is artistic, I like the ambience of the place and went to try out the food twice so far. Once for lunch with Jenny and a dinner with Gwen.

Nice place and good food at restaurant prices. Can't say much abt their coffee coz I din try...just took a regular drink.

    **********************************************************************************

These photos are long long overdue...some colleagues and myself went to Christina's place to hang out on a friday night.

Stuffed ourselves with lots of pizzas, fried chickens and chips. Then drank quite a bit playing card games late into the night.

Here are the photos of Christina's darlings (not very well taken with my handphone camera):

    Scones

    **********************************************************************************

Our National Day celebration in the office was rather interesting, coz of some of our creativity.

A colleague printed the picture of a Singapore flag and made a mini flag pole.

    A cute mini Singapore flag

And a "not so well drawn" Singapore flag

Then we were inspired to recite the national pledge after our lunch. How patriotic.

    Singapore National Pledge

And we came up with our very own WTL pledge! Which our S.C. laughed out when she saw and read it out loud...haha...enjoy....

    Our WTL pledge

Now, for a story abt the Happy Mandarin Orange (shall call it HMO).

HMO was living happily with a load of frens in a carton until some evil trader decided to separate them and sold to some buyers during Chinese New Year (CNY). As in CNY tradition, oranges changed hands during visiting of frens and families to signify well wishes. So HMO was being sent from places to places.

Finally, HMO ended up with Christina in our office one day and got itself involve in an experiment. Christina wanted to know how mandarin orange will turn out if left on the office table for a long long period of time.

So HMO sat lonely for many many days, many many months...braving through the cold aircon days and hot stuffy nights.

Finally on Halloween, Christina decided to tear HMO apart to see wat is in the then dry and wrinkly orange.

    OMG!!! HMO is MMO now!!!

    Mouldy Mandarin Orange - MMO
