CHINESE NEW YEAR EVE
Its CNY eve today and I am at work...how sad right? But its ok lah, at least I got to leave early from work the whole week...which is better coz I din have the mood to work anyway. Now I am just hoping time will fly faster and I can knock off.
Plans after work, grab my lunch n rush home. Do a little packing in my room, just to chuck everything neatly aside. Then if my 2nd bro is in, we will play Maplestory together. If he is not, I will play on my own. Until Charmaine and the rest comes...then I probably have to stop coz mum will start nagging if I dun. No steamboat for this year's reunion dinner, just some homecooked food, nothing fanciful. Probably will have lots of fruits after dinner. Then game time continues, maybe we will play the computer chinese version of monopoly...hehe...its a cute game I bought previously. If not, then it will be mapling again for me n bro...hehe...But then, these are just my estimated plan lah, see how later lor. :)

PRE-HOLIDAY MOOD
Have been in a sort of pre-holiday mood for the past few days. Everyday at work this week was like "Why do I have to come to work?". Couldnt really get my spirits up to do work n "super inefficient" is wat I will call myself of late. Plus, I guess I hv a lot on mind...which makes me more prone to daydreaming.
U know there are certain stages in life tat u start reflecting wat u did in the past? Analyze ur purpose n direction in life. Think of all the possibilities n dreams for the future. Well, guess I am at one of those stages now. Maybe its a new year thing...but it did not put happy tots in my mind. Although I hv a general idea of my life direction, I have no solid plans nor determination to put everything into action. Guess there is a little coward in all of us tat we dun wish to face up to challenges in life and just wana lead a simple unnoticed life. After much thinking, I am still without a conclusion. No choice but to handle watever comes along in my way. I believe life has a weird way of working out in the end, as long as u keep on believing and do not give up...tats how I pulled thru my years.

DISTURBING THOUGHTS
Been thinking of late whether I have become too meddlesome, getting involved in other people's lives in the belief tat I am doing them good...but is it true tat I am helping them? How am I able to shed some light in their lives when I myself hv no headway of my own?
Been offered an opportunity to take up a perm post doing some coordination work recently. Took me the whole weekend to consider it as the pay is more attractive n it is a perm job. Then I considered my current contract job and my career direction, I am faced with a dilema. Do I go with my initial plan to eventually land myself with a job in a law firm? Or do I just try to get the job with the highest salary offered...such is the problem. Though I am still unsure if I made the right choice, but I decided not to try for the job. Think I shld just stay put in where I am for the moment.
And who am I to give advice on relationship to pple? As if I am a master at it. Sadly, I have seen more failed cases of relationships than success...very disturbing indeed tat the advice comes from such as me...

ANOTHER WEEKEND BURNT???
Recap on Sat:
Was initially planning to go out with Xiao Meis on Sat but Weini was sick...so tats my plan was burnt...hope she gets well really soon. And of coz tat she stays healthy.
After attempting to tag along with my eldest bro but found out tat he is gg visiting my sis-in-law's family, I was resigned to the fate of staying at home for the weekend. :( Then, Kim called! Haha...count on her perfect timing. She was getting quite frustrated with her loads of marking tat I think she probably needs to get out for a breather. So, I spent Sat evening with Kim n Kris, wondering ard aimlessly in Kim's car as it was raining and we had no idea where to go. Ended up at Robertson Walk for a drink n chit chat. A rather relaxing night...and of coz when I got back, I started gaming again! Haha...how can I miss playing maplestory? Only slept at 4am plus this morning.

HOOKED TO PITSTOP!!!?????
Met up with Amrita just now (or considered last night lah) to buy contact lens for me and my bro. She was so bogged down by work tat she came I think nearly an hour late. While waiting for her, I was pacing around in Raffles City S.C. and becoz there was an art event, there was no seats for me to rest on. After pacing for nearly 1/2 hr and bought a perfume from Marks & Spencer...I was really sleepy and din feel like shopping anymore. So I went to the area just above the escalator leading down to the MRT and stood there. As I was waiting, I'm actually able to doze off for abt 15 to 30 mins. Behold the amazing powers of Christine! The ability to sleep while standing...haha!!!
Anyway, we headed down to Pitstop for dinner (yah, 2 days in a row..keke...). The Pitstop crew was quite shocked to see me there..haha...I had the teriyaki chicken chop this time and Amrita took the fish n chips. Tasted quite good. Comparable to restaurant standard. The cafe was quite busy as I guess most pple patronize on fridays as the weekend is ahead and they could stay up later. We played a few rounds of blokus (this is fast becoming my fav board game) with Shuying (Evelyn's fren), Evelyn and Timothy...it was fun playing with them...they are really seasoned players and it really stimulates the mind to play against them. Amrita was a fast learner as well, took her only seconds to understand the game and able to play as well as if she knew this game all her life...haha....Timo finally got his revenge and won twice...keke...sore loser!
Left the cafe at abt 11pm plus and had a nice quiet walk down the boat quay area to Fullerton hotel...feeling relaxed after a week of hard (?) work...

BLOKUS FUN AT PITSTOP
Brought Su to Pitstop Cafe today after our briefing session at HQ. It was a brisk walk from City Hall and when we reached the place, we were warmly greeted by Evelyn and heard a screeching from Timo...haha...his infamous screeching greeting!
The place was sadly empty, except for their own staff, when we got there. Guess not many pple are as free to patronize the cafe at working hours :P
We sat down for a coffee for Su and chocolate milkshake for me. Decided to play some games and Timo taught us a 2 player game - the balloon game. Ok lah, it was average but nothing exciting. Then, I asked abt Blokus and Margaret (aka Mumu) and Timo immediately said they will join in...haha...If u wana know wat's the game of blokus, pls refer to my blog entry on 10 Jan "Pitstop Cafe - First Visit".
We started the 1st round with a very weird formation whereby every tile seems to be placed very oddly and I was playing the "friendly style" as wat I did previous with my Xiao Meis. But I quickly learned tat Mumu and Timo is not to be underestimated. As Evelyn described, the game defines the world as a "Dog Eat Dog World"...Timo being the Dog...hahaha...(pls dun kill me if u read my blog, Timo). I continued the game for the next 3 rounds planning strategies to block the opponents way while clearing my own tiles (u gotta play the game to know wat I am talking abt). Anyway, the winners of the 4 rounds were: Mumu, Me, Mumu and Su. Wat happened to the Dog??? Well, Timo lost all the way lor...hehe...he really gotta buck up.
Su din stay for dinner while I did coz Mum din cook mine. Had their "Poultry in a Kueh" which is essentially Chicken Lasagne. Loved the taste ever since Shiming ate it the last time we were there. I left the cafe right after dinner coz I started thinking abt my maplestory again...hands itching to play it :P Well, off to playing liao.

FLU OR SINUS???
Woke up this morning with a running nose...then it became blocked nose. Kept wondering if it is the regular morning sinus nose which btw, irritates me to no bounds...or could it be I just caught the flu bug? Well, came into office on the dot and was sneezing and sniffing away. Think I am one irritating nose orchestra which is disturbing everyone's peace. Had really wanted to take MC but tot tat it is really "bo(3) hua(2)" to take MC when I already reached office and half a day is gone. And since I have limited MC days, better to save it for rainy days.
So, I waited till 11am plus to see if the sneezing and running/blocked nose stops, which will signifies that it is a sinus problem. But unfortunately, it didnt. So, I popped a Clarinase pill and stopped the flow for the moment. Hope this will last till I knock off. Dun like eating too much medicine, harmful for the body. SOMEONE! Pls wind the clock faster so tat I can go home soon. Sob...sob...

MAPLESTORY CRAZE
Lately I am gg nuts with the online game Maplestory. Call it addiction...obsession...lost myself into the game liaoz.
Played the whole of the afternoon yesterday (a fine sunny sat spent on gaming), until Kim distracted me with a phonecall asking me to go out for dinner. Which is a good idea considering I have no dinner plans. So we cracked our head and came up with the idea of gg to fisherman's village. We even came up with contingent plan - if it rains, we will go to airport instead. Then, we jio Mabel to join us but she had to go to Sun Yan Zi concert. Also, contacted Kris who luckily like us also have no life lor...nowhere to go...haha! So we went fisherman for dinner, which by the way is not cheap lor...I tot it wld be hawker price but no, it cost more like restaurant price...abt $40++ for 3 pax.
We went for a drink n bum ard and met Anne with her friends (sorry, forgot their names), so coincidental...haha...Anyway, we left them and hanged out at another drinking place there (forgot the name of the place too :P ) and only returned home ard 1am plus. But being as obsessed with Maplestory as I am, I ended up playing Maplestory till 5am...haha...even met my bro in the game..naughty boy, he also playing so late...haha

DEGREE CERTIFICATE
Finally collected my degree cert today. Took a half day leave to specially go down to RELC to collect it. Happened that today is also nearing the deadline for current student to register for exams, therefore the place was packed with pple. Met 2 of my ex-coursemates (as I have graduated), Chris and Kai ler there...both last minute pple. Aiyah, next time shld try to pay earlier mah, then dun have to wait till last minute and queue for nearly 2 hrs...haha
Well, my cert collection is at a different floor and I was way early...the pple are out for lunch till 2pm and I was there at 1pm! Was intending to find a place to eat in RELC but there was only a chinese restaurant which is a bit too expensive to eat lunch alone there. So, I remember pacing ard for at least 1/2 hr before I decided to approach the receptionist abt it. Fortunately, the nice lady tended to me and actually gave me my cert!!! Haha...so happy to get it and be on my way home after tat. Cant wait to play Maplestory when I get back....which I am gg to do soon....hehe

RAINY SEASON
It is a weird thing that rainy weather has stretched into January this year...normally it happens in Nov/Dec period. The weather is exceptionally cold and wet lately. It had been raining for the last 5 days...so including today - 6 days of rain. Hope tat it stops soon and the trees and plants wont drown and have a little sunshine instead.

Shld I not mention names and things that I have done, places I went and food tat I ate? Ok, maybe....I will try to lessen hor. But no compromise on the names part...I still prefer to write things down with my frens' name so tat I myself can remember who I went out with......this works like a diary thing to me lah.

PITSTOP CAFE - FIRST VISIT
Today was my first visit to Pitstop Cafe. Was supposed to meet Zhenwei, Weini and Shiming at 1pm but turned out tat Zhenwei and I rotted and waited for the other 2 until 2pm plus close to 3pm lor!!! Told u gals already, "Where got Da Jie Da wait for her Xiao Mei one??"! Haha...
Had our lunch at Pitstop, really quite good for a new setup. The place is homely and comfortable. The staff there are friendly although their service is not first class. Well, who wants first class service in a place like home anyway? Keke, just help ourselves lah.
Looking at the various games available, I found tat I only recognized a few. Sounds like I dun have much of a childhood...sob..sob...We tried 4 games in total: Mad Magazine Game, PITS, Blokus and Galloping Pigs. Spent 3 whole hrs playing games there, excluding eating time, keke.
Here are some pics:-
Looking at the YUMMY food!

Game#3: Galloping Pigs
See how cute the pigs are on the tracks...Kawaii

MAPLESTORY
Yipee! We (2nd bro & me) finally managed to register for the free online game "Maplestory". Wat cute graphics and characters. Although it is a 2D game, it stills looks fun. I only managed to play a little bit before Bros and Sis-in-law dragged me out to have dinner at CompassPoint...ok, actually they got Charmaine to drag me...hehe...for a little girl, she sure is strong! Used her small hands to hold mine and pulled, refused to let go and kept saying "Zhou" ("let's go" in Chinese). Hahaha...

BIRTHDAY CELEBRATION
Yup, its my birthday today. Another day older, 1 more year nearer my death...haha...sadistic? No lah, its the way of life.
The new PC which my 2nd bro bought was delivered at abt 5pm plus. He got all excited and was like a kid unwrapping his presents...keke. I helped him a little by removing some of the plastic wrapping and clearing up the boxes. He did some quick connecting and testing before we got ready to pick Bro & family up for dinner. Met Mum & Dad outside the Magic Wok restaurant in Hougang Mall. And while waiting for Auntie to arrive with Ah Sheng and Yanling, Charmaine played on this toy car ride outside the restaurant (w/o slotting any $ into the machine). She couldnt get enuff of it actually, such tat we had a hard time to get her to come down from the machine...hehe. The dinner was really nice, ok lets see...we had the following dishes:
1) Pineapple Fried Rice
2) Pat Thai (Thai Fried Noodle)
3) Fried Beef Hor Fun
4) You Tiao w Sotong Paste
5) Thai Stuffed Chicken Wings
6) Cereal Prawns
7) Broccoli w Mushrooms
8) Steamed Fish
9) Hotplate Beancurd w Prawns
It all came up to $80+ for 9 persons plus 1 toddler. Quite cheap! But the service there SUCKs!!! This waitress who was serving our table had this long face as if we all owed her money...and when u request for something, she took forever to do it...TERRIBLE SERVICE!!! Wonder how can Singapore improve service standards when there is this kind of pple ard?
Anyway, my birthday came and gone quietly just like tat..another year has passed.

PITSTOP CAFE - 14B CIRCULAR ROAD
This is not an advertisement.
I chanced upon a link in Mabel's blog: "http://pitstopcafe.blogspot.com/" on a cafe named Pitstop Cafe, a new boardgame concept cafe opened in Dec last year (2005). Was very impressed by the entreprenurship of the 4 young owners and the stories they had to tell. It is not difficult to imagine how difficult it is to start a business and the hardships they have to face to get the place running. Salute to them for their efforts!!!
I have yet to patronize the place...but was so impressed by the contents in their blog that I have an urge to go right down now. But sadly, I have appts to keep today...might try it tomorrow maybe, if I can get khakis...will feel odd gg alone coz wont have pple to play games with me :)
Ok, I have decided to add their link in my main page...look out for it and browse thru to see their interesting updates! Maybe u will see me in their pics one of these days when I do patronize them.

CELEBRATION AT HAPPY DAZE
Met up with Kim and gang (she doesnt like me saying this word...so I shall change to Frens instead) just now. Had dinner at Happy Daze (located at Serangoon Gdn Circus) with Kim, Mabel and Jean for my first time. The food there is quite nice...I ordered an American Breakfast from the menu. Funny tat they serve Breakfast for dinner....hehe...but the bacon, sausage, scrambled egg and toast tasted really good...only the fries seem a little soggy. Jean had curry chicken (the curry tasted sweet actually) with rice and Kim had chicken chop. We also tried the chicken wings which tasted good as well. Then we started chatting a little rubbish...not convenient to disclose here though...hehe...and we found tat Jean, the nurse to be, is not really well tuned with some simple medical stuff. Jean! U shld really start studying hard instead of watching Korean shows and god knows wat else u do during ur free time...keke!
Ok, back to the place. Quite a cozy cafe with a nice ambience. Got a big screen TV and a projector which constantly distracted Kim and Mabel who are trying to take a peek on wats showing...and Mabel complained tat my head is BIG! Boo..hoo...hoo....they played nice music there, I am not familiar with the genre, so shall not attempt to identify song titles...haha...
Then, Anne came with her colleague Julius. She order Indonesian fried rice (the name reminded me of Uno's nasi goreng in Perth..Kim and Mabel, remember?) and Julius had chicken chop...but alas! He followed tat with curry chicken and some other orders as well. Boy, can the guy eat! Keke...by this time both Jean and Kim looked ready to knock out due to their lack of sleep last night. Had to constantly try to draw them into conversation so tat they dun KO. Anyway, I was distracted from talking coz of my 9pm channel 8 show: Love concierge, hee...I changed seats with Kim to watch. Jean left at abt 9.30pm and I left with Kim at abt 10pm plus...guess its better I rest early as well. Been out every night for almost the whole week...waiting for my mum's patience to wear out and start nagging...hahaha!

OFFICE NEW YEAR BASH
Just had our office new year bash. It was a simple event whereby our head gave a speech, followed by a cultural performance of Indian music and lunch. Almost fell asleep during the 4 music pieces they played just now. Then, I smelled curry chicken in the middle of it all...haha.
Was really relieved when the performance ended, coz all the staff started attacking the catered food. There were rice, spaghetti, mutton, fish slices, black-pepper chicken and veggies, but alas, no curry chicken! Haha, was laughing with Su and wondering where did the smell of curry chicken came from in the first place. Ate a hearty lunch and now feeling sleepy again...but still got a lot of work to clear. Sigh. No time to bum ard.

KARAOKE FUN
Karaoke just now was fun. In the end, only Kim, Mabel and me went to sing at K-box Hougang Plaza. Kris accompanied Yi Ching in the cybercafe next to K-box. But thank god tat she lent us 2 jackets or I might have frozen in there.
Realised tat I am really out of touch with all new songs or even semi-new songs. Did not know quite a number of songs they sang and it was like my first time hearing them...hehe...but overall it was good relaxing there rather than being home alone. I think one of the good things abt gg out with them is probably tat it is usually relaxed and easy...no haste or pressure involved. Reminded me of the time in Perth with them, no such things as keeping to schedule or plans...it was "head where u feel like gg" trip...haha!!! Would never have tot tat being a person who love to plan ahead, I would enjoy those days of idleness.

HAPPENING WEEK ;)
This week is indeed a very happening week after last week's inactivity.
Went out with Amrita on Tues for dinner and was out with Su yesterday to run some errands. Meeting Kim, Mabel and Kris later for dinner then karaoke...hehe, long time never sing already. Think I will most probably just sit there n hear them sing...haha
Then, tomorrow meeting with Kim and gang again for dinner at Happy Daze, most probably. Sat, gg out with family to have dinner. Sun got tentative coffee appt with Jenny. Next Mon, got dinner appt with Weini, Shiming and Zhenwei at dunno where, havent decided yet.
Wow! Wow! Busy week...hehe...at least makes me feel more alive ;)

CONSEQUENCES
Consequence...it comes with every decision and choice we make in life. It basically means wat u get or wat happens after a decision/choice. It may be a good or bad outcome depending on our own views and wat we want.
There is no definite right or wrong decision/choice in this world, they only become right or wrong becoz of our views which are affected by our upbringing and the values tat are instilled upon us. Therefore, in my opinion, the decision/choice we make should be geared by wat type of consequences might result from it and wat we want. I cannot say tat I can fathom wat "consequence" means in totality but I do know tat all of us should ponder over it with each decision/choice we make. If u can accept the consequences, then I guess no one can say tat u r wrong...am I right?

LALALA....IT'S TUESDAY!
Yipee! My ulcer is almost completely healed. Was a lot better yesterday n although I stayed home whole day yesterday, I was less irritable n enjoyed playing w Charmaine. The chicken pox guy (hehe...my eldest bro lah) finally returned to his own home last night, so now it's just waiting to see if I have gotten z virus.
Was in quite a good mood when I woke up this morning, none of the blues tat I felt last Tue. I think its becoz I felt rested and a bit bored the whole weekend tat working brings a little something to do...hehe...and I have a dinner appt with Amrita later. Felt a bit guilty for neglecting her since I came back from Perth. We used to meet up like at least once a week, now I havent seen her like in abt 3 weeks...or had it been a month :P Well, we sure got a lot of catching up to do ;)

ITS THE NEW YEAR!!!
Today is the first day of 2006 and I woke up to Kim's call in the morning at abt 10am plus...felt sleepy but nevertheless woke up coz its not polite to tell her I wanted to continue sleeping :)
Lets recap last night-New Year's Eve....stayed home whole night...had Satay for supper after much insistence from me and my bro, my parents had no choice but to buy back..haha. Not supposed to eat coz of the ulcer but ahhh...who cares!!! Its not gg to get better anyway. I rub salt into my ulcer again last night...TWICE! Brought tears to my eyes again...and ended with some bonjela, which sting almost as bad. Instead of gg straight to bed, I played solo-scrabble again, while watching some rubbish show on TV. I scored 481 points this time round!!! Kim & gang called my hp at abt 2am plus...haha...passed the phone ard to wish me Happy New Year. First it was Kim, Kris, Mabel, Anne, then Mabel again. Haha...so good to hear well wishes from friends firsthand...THANKS GALS!!!!
Ok, back to today. My ulcer is a little better than yesterday. So, actually agreed and went out with Kim for lunch. Went to Toa Payoh first and she ran some errands...were thinking of eating there but instead arranged to meet up with Kris as well for lunch...at Hougang Mall. Mabel couldnt join us coz she had prior lunch arrangement. And Kim had this crazy craving to sing Karaoke and was jioing Kris and Mabel to go with her...I couldnt coz I wanted to go home to play with my niece...haha...yes, my frens rank after Charmaine...hehe... We had lunch at the Magic Wok in Hougang Mall...the food's not bad and we had a great time chatting. It felt good to go out today coz at least I dun feel tat the holiday is wasted.
When I returned home ard 3 plus, it was playing with Charmaine all the way. She is just so energetic tat it is so hard to keep up with her. She seems to have put on a little weight...her cheeks chubbier...haha. Jesline said tat her appetite is really good these few days. They went back at abt 8pm plus and Charmaine still looked energetic despite not having a nap since 1pm. Well, I am tired myself and should be turning in to sleep soon...yawn! Age is catching up on me...
